Historically the Ford Ranger Wildtrak has been notoriously difficult to get hold of and demand still far exceeds supply as the South African factory is supplying the global requirements for the class leading pick up. We pre-order stock through our franchised dealer partners so that we have steady supply of vehicles coming through in all colours. Guessing the popularity of different colours, and therefore the stock mix, has always been difficult. At first Sabre Orange dominated as the launch colour. Sea Grey and Shadow Black later became the ‘must have’ colour. Now, with so much bespoke design around arches and wheels, many customers are seeing the Moondust Silver and Frozen White as the colours that best show off the contrast in the accessories. Therefore the only way of getting it right is to order plenty of everything…which is what we do. The next challenge is to get the factory options right. When a vehicle takes nine months to arrive from order to delivery you really need to get the final specification correct. Almost all of our vehicles are ordered with the factory options of Mountain Top roller shutter, tow bar, front parking sensors and a 230v inverter. There are many reasons why this is the ‘go to’ specification but let us bring some clarity.

When options are factory fitted they are also under warranty. Therefore if you have an issue with the electrics on your tow bar or the mechanism on your roller shutter you can take the vehicle to any franchised Ford dealer whilst the vehicle is under warranty. Many people make the mistake of having a cover fitted locally and adding a Witter tow bar not realising that neither is under manufacturer warranty. Both will also be far more expensive than the factory option and potentially the tow bar may not even be rated for the maximum 3.5 tonne towing allowance. When you come to dispose of your vehicle then most buyers will want the factory tow bar as it is seen as the best. As for the front parking sensors why wouldn’t you pop them on when they only cost £200 plus vat and are integrated with the dashboard. And the kids won’t thank you for leaving out the £60 inverter that they can use to recharge their ipads in the back.

If you want sports tonneau covers like the Max Highline or Hardtops like the Truckman Grand then we can fit all of those, and at trade prices. We have seen all sorts of covers and tops over the years and can give chapter and verse on what is more waterproof, more usable, more aesthetically pleasing, better value and so on. Just ask one of the team and we will probably have fitted one or seen what the problems might be.

And finally our niche has grown through our White Hot Design department. In the early days customers would ask us to change a few bits here and there. Then we got into creating Limited Rangers with full leather but with everything else accessorised as a Wildtrak. We created a Performance Blue ‘Wildtrak’ as Ford doesn’t produce one. And now we have our own Editions such as the ‘White Hot’ and the ‘Black Panther’ which are unique to us. Bespoke building a Raptor style Ranger is not as simple as sticking some arches on and a new grill. Some grills from overseas are frankly rubbish and when still in the box the quality difference is obvious. The arches can differ enormously; some are drilled and bolted into the vehicle whilst others will ‘pop off’ after a few thousand miles if not fitted properly. We know which are which and have been through years of trial and error. We don’t advocate drilling holes in a vehicle, which may potentially invalidate the manufacturer paint warranty. We most certainly don’t drill holes in the roof for a light bar for the very same reason. If you want some sensible advice, based on years of experience then speak to one of the team and get the Ranger that you can be proud of, can be resold without issue and has the full support of a manufacturer warranty in all areas.
